If someone asked you to recommend the best guitar magazine around, which one would you choose? And WHY? Which one do you think has the best interviews, gear/equipment reviews, playing tips, guitar tabs, news articles, etc...
If your favorite isn't listed above, just let me know and I'll add it to the list. -------------------- Free, Legal Guitar TAB: www.mxtabs.net

i only ever knew of GW, Total guitar, and guitar player, and out of those, Total Guitar was my fav. it was just more appealing visually, and i felt like i usually got more from it than other mags.
i dont remember the last time i read a guitar mag though... -------------------- "So instead of cheating on your mother with another woman, I've decided to cheat on her vagina with her butthole."

Wait......those are magazines? I thought they were just endless pages of ads being endorced by overrated musicians. Huh, who would've thought? Haha. Yeah, there are a TON of ads in most of them. At least they're usually guitar/gear ads though... for stuff I usually can't afford. -------------------- Free, Legal Guitar TAB: www.mxtabs.net

Very true, especially the outrageous prices.
I like a couple of issues I remembered, one being having the entire song tab for Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups. And I think they would accumalate a lot more money by putting more than 4-5 songs tabbed. -------------------- ![]() |

It's Guitar Edge all the way. They partnered with Premier Guitar a few months back, and now it looks like a real magazine, plus it's free online (like Premier). With 10 tabs each month, they always have something I like. And I use the others to practice sight-reading. They have a lot of the guys from Guitar One there too, and that was always my favorite magazine. I do prefer Premier Guitar for gear stuff though.

Does anybody remember "Guitar School" & "Guitar For The Practicing Musician"? Have tons of them stuff in a box in the spare room. Use to get them all the time in the 80's when I use to work at the local shop, of course I use to get them after the boss use to rip the headers off the covers to send back, he didn't care. they both had tabs as well.
But the worse thing about them and I bet as now, sense I haven't picked up a trade mag in like 10 years, is that they're still pushing the same damn songs over and over, reminds me of those stupid time life record offers. Imagine the who music catalog of popular music and they're stuck on the same four songs. I hope it isn't true now. The bass mags were pretty good, at least they offered songs that wasn't in the other guitar mags, at least you can get a pretty good start with just how that song goes. -------------------- "Keep your stick on the ice."
