Alright, here I will start up a poll so people can vote on their favorite brand of bass guitar strings. Also, please post your answer, and if your favorite is not listed, then just leave a post here and I'll add it so you can vote.
My favorite brand by far is Elixir with their nanoweb strings. I downtune half a step, but I still have no problems using their light strings (which I like for the bending) when it comes to intonation or breaking. -------------------- I currently have received 3 cookie(s)

Personally, I can't go past the boom and raw power of GHS's aptly named Boomers. So much clarity. From the very first time I whacked a set on, even unplugged I could feel such an amazing difference, so much... Ooomph!.

I would have to go with the ernie ball flatwounds...
I will never play a bass again without flatwounds of some kind... and ernie balls are the best i've used. they are incredibly fast strings, and produce great sounds. great for my heavy jazzy style -------------------- AIM: skatebylife

Haha, yeah I want to get some flatwounds for my 'fretless' but I'm thinking of just getting the Fender Taperwounds since they are cheap.

20 years, christ. I have such an attack-y style that a set of strings never last me more than a month before at least one is gone.
'Tis an expensive style. |

Shit-balls. In my band it works out almost the same, because the guitarist used 1.0+ mm picks and a strong attack, so he replaces them one a week just about.

I use Stainless Steels, don't care who makes them Ernie Ball, GHS or Fender (that I know of). But after a week of playing them or longer (depends and when they sound grutty) all I have to do is get some plain steel wool and some rubbing alcohol, loosen the strings and then zip........> zip........< zip.........>, getting into the wounds as much as I can. But at the same time I'll take some Old English dark scratch remover and coat the fret board taking a old toothbrush and then letting it set for a while. Then clean everything up retune and off to the races I go.
Stainless Steel Strings are the only ones I'll ever use, weather its bass, electric, or even accoustic. -------------------- "Keep your stick on the ice."
